Gulf Power rate hearing on Tuesday

Gulf Power is back before the Public Service Commission on Tuesday for its rate increase. Last week, the utility filed a request that its transmission plan be kept confidential, claiming the report would expose vulnerabilities of its lines to potential wrongdoers. Read 00070-12-2.

The rumors of Gulf Power building in north Escambia County a nuclear power plant persist. Company officials just smile when asked. Public officials act, off the record, like the new plant is a done deal, citing the new EPA regulations as the cause.
