Gulf Winds Credit Union’s Innovative ‘Written in the Walls’

Gulf Winds Credit Union has launched an innovative community engagement initiative that extends its participation in Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build Day beyond traditional volunteer activities. The “Written in the Walls” program creates a permanent connection between community supporters and housing recipients through a unique approach to fundraising and relationship building.

Details: The credit union will deploy 20 volunteers to participate in the October 1 Women Build event, contributing to the construction of a new home for a qualifying local family. However, the organization has developed a pre-construction engagement strategy that maximizes community participation and creates lasting impact.

According to Pola Young, Director of Community Engagement at Gulf Winds Credit Union, this approach represents a commitment to long-term community investment.

Giving Back, One Message at a Time

In addition to signing the pink boards, participants are encouraged to make a donation, which will directly support Gulf Winds’ fundraising goal. Donations can be made using a QR code posted next to the boards or at the teller line, and every dollar will go toward the team’s $20,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity, set to be presented on-site during the build.
