The blogosphere has searched and found this video on Evangelist Ted Haggard. In the video- Richard Dawkins, renown British evolutionary biologist, talks to Haggard about Evangelical views on evolution. It ends with Haggard kicking them off the property.
Haggard is a big supporter of President George W. Bush. Pastor Ted was asked by Bush to be on hand for the signing of the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. He bragged that he had the President on speed-dial and had weekly phone conferences with him.
His megachurch in Colorado Springs has really strange history. Jeff Sharlet – in Harper’s – wrote this article Inside America’s Most Powerful Mega Church. Sharlet wrote about the early days of Haggard’s ministry in Colorado Springs:
He staked out gay bars, inviting men to come to his church; his whole congregation pitched itself into invisible battles with demonic forces, sometimes in front of public buildings. One day, while he was working in his garage, a woman who said she’d been sent by a witches’ coven tried to stab Pastor Ted with a five-inch knife she pulled from a leg sheath; Pastor Ted wrestled the blade out of her hand.
