Last night at Seville Quarter, we announced our first sponsors and bands for the May 19 and May 20 event. We initially played the “friend card” and tried to get well-known artists to perform, but even then the bands were out of our price range. We were offered several classic rock (oldies) – Eddie Money, 38 Special, Air Supply – but we decided that we would be falling into the same trap as the old Springfest.
We settled on signing up and coming bands and ones that had a reputation for great live performances. This list we announced isn’t complete. We have offers out on a few more bands – both country and rock, and we have two bands that we agreed to not announce until April 22 – but here’s what we’ve got.
Until June (thanks to Q100) – raising stars on Sony BMG label – www.myspace.com/untiljune
Col. Bruce Hampton and the Quark Alliance – Atlanta jazz, funk legend Col. Bruce & The Quark Alliance
Entropy – 2006 top local R&B/Soul band in Atlanta (Creative Loafing) May the Funk be With You
