Hayward’s no-blanket ordinance backlash: Pensacola called Most Horrible City on the Planet

AH2
On Broward/Palm Beach New Times blog, Chris Joseph criticized today Pensacola for its no-blanket ordinance: “A Florida City Made It Illegal For Homeless People to Cover Themselves With Blankets.”

Here is the opening sentence: “Pensacola has gone all-in in the run for Most Horrible City On The Planet … die from exposure, the homelessness problem in Pensacola will vanish?”

Ouch!

Here are the closing paragraphs:

In addition to collecting signatures, the makers of the Change.org petition are also asking those interested in things like compassion, empathy and common f$#king human decency to email the Pensacola mayor about those things.

Until then, thanks to Pensacola, Florida remains the place where a person without a home is a far greater risk to public safety than a guy who goes around shooting people in “self-defense.”
