Heart Association, LPR and others help combat food insecurity

ON WCOA, Levin Papantonio Rafferty partner Peter Mougey talked about how the Heart Association is providing fresh produce to families in need.

“Our community partners include Manna, Baptist, UWF, SCI and Escambia County Health Department,” shared Mougey. “We have made a ton of progress, raised almost one million in cash and in-kind and are now operating at full capacity.”

He added, “We are currently delivering 2,000 nutritional food backpacks per month for school kids, and by year-end, we will be delivering 800 15-lb boxes per month of fresh vegetables, fruits, legumes and whole grains to families in specific zip codes that don’t have access to fresh produce.”
