Homeowners ask Bondi to change stance

Florida homeowners are asking Attorney General Pam Bondi to reconsider her stance on litigation against mortgage companies, according to the Florida Tribune.

A working group of attorneys general in all 50 states are currently negotiating a settlement with the nation’s five largest mortgage lenders. The lenders are accused of robo-signing and falsifying documents in Florida, where a full 50 percent of all homeowners are said to owe more on their homes than they’re worth. Bondi wants the group to avoid forcing the lenders to reduce homeowners’ principal balances.
