Ice Flyers sign 3-year lease for Civic Center

Press Release: The Pensacola Ice Flyers are excited to announce that they have signed a new 3-year lease with Escambia County and thus will continue to call the Pensacola Civic Center their home through to the 2014-2015 season.

“There was not any doubt that we wanted to stay in Pensacola, our fans wanted us to stay, and Escambia County wanted us to stay and keep providing professional hockey to the citizens,” said team owner Tim Kerr. “We knew Escambia County needed to fill certain requirements in this new lease. As a good corporate citizen, the organization stepped up to ensure those requirements were met and to keep the sport of hockey in Pensacola for another 3 years.”

Combined with the lease signing, the Ice Flyers are launching their season ticket renewal drive at the next home game on Saturday, February 11th at 7:05PM, during their annual Mardi Gras Night. Due to an Escambia County surcharge on each ticket under the new lease agreement, the organization has decided to change the price of season tickets for the first time in 3 seasons. “The price points we placed on season tickets were based on the lease we signed back in the summer of 2009,” replied Kerr. “To keep Ice Flyers’ hockey viable in Pensacola with the new lease, we had to make some adjustments.”

The increase in each ticket according to the new lease will be $1.85 per seat plus sales tax. To help offset the ticket price increase, and knowing that an increase is hard to give their fans, the Ice Flyers have successfully negotiated FREE parking for every home game. As per the last lease, parking was $5 each game, but this will not be the case starting in the 2012-2013 season. Also, the Ice Flyers will now offer a 10-month payment plan instead of a 9-month plan in order to help minimize the monthly payment increase.

Every season ticket holder who signs up by April 15th will be given a free one-of-a-kind Ice Flyers season ticket holder jersey. Fans can save even more money by signing up prior to April 15th, as the Ice Flyers will waive the monthly processing fee within their 10-month payment plan for early renewal. If seats are not renewed by April 15th, 2012, they will be made available to the public and other season ticket holders.

Season tickets will now consist of 30 home game tickets: 28 regular season home games and 2 playoff home games. Having 2 playoff games included in 2012-2013 season ticket packages gives fans the advantage to divide up the cost of their playoff tickets, instead of having to pay a large lump sum when playoff time comes.

Because of this new lease, season ticket holders will be able to sign an option for a 3-year commitment that will be valid to the end of the new lease. There is no cost to do this and there are no exit fees should fans choose to get out of the 3-year commitment. By signing this option, season ticket holders will be guaranteed to have the new season ticket price locked in for the length of the term. This will be the only time that season ticket holders will be able to opt into an extended term commitment.

The Ice Flyers will extend an opportunity for fans to pay for their season tickets over the course of 10 months: 1 credit card payment every month from April 2012 to January 2013. Another payment option is a $75 deposit up front with the remaining balance divided into 2 equal payments: one in June 2012 and one in October 2012. For those signing up for a 3-year commitment, the payment options will remain the same unless otherwise noted. Contact will also be made by the team prior to the first payment of every year to serve as a reminder.

The organization will be offering fans the option to purchase a parking spot in the reserved lot of the Civic Center. 195 spots will be made available at a cost of $60 each for all home games and playoff games during the 2012-2013 season.

The Pensacola Ice Flyers are excited about working with Escambia Country and SMG Management to keep bringing professional hockey to fans of all ages from the surrounding area.
