Ice Pilots make Fetid Five

The Reading (Penn.) Eagle lists the 2007-08 Pensacola Ice Pilots as the one of the all-time lousiest teams in the ECHL:

Pensacola had several bad seasons, but last year was the cream of the crap. Despite hiring veteran John Marks as coach, the Ice Pilots were the second-worst offensive team in league history at 2.18 goals per game and 157 goals total. They were also shut out 12 times, an ECHL record.

Not only were they bad, but the Ice Pilots weren’t fun to watch. They were the fourth-least penalized team in league history at just 16.0 penalty minutes per game.

Marks entered the season needing just 14 wins to tie John Brophy’s ECHL coaching record. It took him until late February. “I was thinking I would have it in December,” Marks said, “and it would be over and done with.”
