Press Release: Innovation Coast and the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition will hold an open house event Thursday, Sept. 3, to celebrate the IHMC robotics team’s second-place finish at this summer’s DARPA Robotics Challenge in Pomona, California.

The open house will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at IHMC headquarters at 40 S. Alcaniz St. in downtown Pensacola. IHMC staff will show a highlight video from the robotics challenge at the free event, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine will be served.

Team IHMC made international news in June when its robot, Running Man, navigated an obstacle course at the DARPA competition in just over 50 minutes. That time was good enough to place Running Man second in a field of 22 robots designed by teams from around the world.

A team from KAIST in Seoul, South Korea placed first in the event, with its robot finishing the obstacle course in about 44 minutes.
