In Celebration of Women Composers Concert tickets still available

Tickets Still Available for Choral Society of Pensacola’s “In Celebration of Women Composers” Concert Featuring Hanan Tarabay and Howard Reddy

Tickets are still available for the Choral Society of Pensacola’s season-opening concert titled “In Celebration of Women Composers.” This eclectic evening of music will feature the Choral Society’s 60-member chorus, popular local vocalists Hanan Tarabay and Howard Reddy, and accompanists Ila Brown and Martin Tate. The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 2203 North 12th Avenue.

Musical selections performed by the Choral Society chorus will include Fanny Mendelssohn’s beautiful Cantata Hiob (Job), movements from “Mass in E Flat” by Amy Beach, and songs from the Broadway musicals “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and “The Secret Garden.”

Tarabay and Reddy have extensive experience in opera, oratorio and other professional concert settings, both in the U.S. and abroad. Their portion of the evening will also feature works from “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and “The Secret Garden,” as well as songs by Clara Schumann and other classical and sacred works.

The Choral Society is pleased to recognize The Bear Family Foundation and Gulf Power Foundation as Concert Sponsors for the “In Celebration of Women Composers” concert. The Choral Society receives additional support from ACE, Inc. and the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs.

Tickets for the concert are $20 for reserved section seating, $15.00 for general admission, and $5.00 for students. Visa and MasterCard can be used to purchase tickets in advance, and there is a $2 discount per ticket on the purchase of reserved or general admission tickets for groups of ten or more. Tickets can also be purchased through the Pensacola State College Lyceum Ticket Office (850-484-1847). Tickets will be available at the door beginning one hour prior to performance time.

Choral Society season tickets are still available. For the low price of $50, patrons will receive reserved section tickets for all three of the Choral Society’s 2013-2014 concerts. Other concerts include Messiah on December 7 & 8, 2013; and Bach’s “Mass in B Minor” on May 10, 2014.
