IN Your Head Radio ends Nov. 4

IN Your Head Radio will air on NewsRadio 1620 AM for the last time on Election Day, Nov 4.

The decision is entirely mine. We started the show in Sept. 2007 as an alternative to standard conservative, Rush Limbaugh-imitation talk radio. I think we succeeded. We definitely brought on guests that no one else was interviewing – Rudy Giuliani, Oliver North, Ron Suskind, six other Pulitizer prize winners and one Noble Prize winner.

We helped Erin Markes in her case to regain custody of her son. We also interviewed Steve Demeter, Jeffrey Humbles and Jim Paul when they got cross ways with the law.

We also had fun while we were doing the show. With my rants, “What the hell is wrong with you?” and the Poot Index, we had an element of unpredictability. Plus, we had the coolest music: Cowboy Mouth, Sweet Pea’s Revenge, Duffy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Little Milton and more.

I owe a great deal of gratitude to my executive producer, Sena Maddison, who could talk nearly anybody into coming on my show.

The toll of taking four hours a day away from my newspaper and my writing has been hard. For every two hours on the air, I spend another two hours preparing. I discussed moving my show to another time slot, but the station management wasn’t interested.

So you’ve got seven more shows to call in and have your say. We will replay some of our best interviews this week.

Is this the end of IN Your Head Radio? Never say never.
