Dr. Judy Bense, University of West Florida president

Dr. Bense, having served at UWF for 30 years, became the 5th president of the University of West Florida on July 1, 2008.

She founded the UWF program of Anthropology/Archaeology in 1980, becoming the Anthropology Department chair in 2001. She established the Archaeology Institute in 1980 and served as its director for 20 years, authoring 5 books and 17 chapters in books and professional journals. She was awarded over 75 grants and contracts totaling over $6 million. In 2006, she founded the Florida Public Archaeology Network.

Since taking office, President Bense has focused on growth, visibility and partnerships with the goal of making UWF a first choice school. She has built a solid network of community partners, identified regional workforce needs and strengthened academic programs so that students are prepared for future leadership.

Rob Holbert, Co-publisher, Lagniappe

Lagniappe is an independently owned 25,000-circulation bi-weekly newspaper that serves the Mobile-Baldwin communities, offering an interesting local perspective on news, politics, arts, cuisine, entertainment and just about anything else that touches people’s lives. The paper is known for a witty, bold take on local events and for a fearless approach to current events. We also like to make it fun to read.

Grover Robinson, IV

Escambia County Commissioner, District 4
A seventh generation Pensacolian who grew up in Escambia County’s District 4. First elected to his home district in 2006. Boards: President-Elect for FAC (2013-present); Chairman, Florida Gulf Consortium for the RESTORE Act (2012-present; Board Member, Florida Inventor’s Hall of Fame; Member, Gulf Consortium Administrative Officer (2012-Present); Member Commission on Florida Oil Spill Response Coordination (2012-Present).

Mark Taylor
Mark co-founded and is the volunteer coordinator of Pensacola World Changers, a charity that has replaced 105 roofs, built wheel chair ramps, and sponsored over 1,000 children at Christmas. He is a Leadership Pensacola graduate, and is also a recent appointee to the Community Maritime Park Board of Trustees.
