IN Your Head Radio returns to the airwaves on WCOA FM 100.7 this Monday, Jan. 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cumulus Media has asked me to fill the slot formerly held by Mike Huckabee, who announced last month that he was ending his show.
IN Your Head Radio debuted on NewsRadio 1620 in September 2007 and run until election day, Nov. 4, 2008. Initially it ran only an hour from 1-2pm, but expanded later from noon-2 p.m.
Here are some of the interviews we had over that time:
Interview with Lt. Col. Oliver North Listen
In December 2007, ABC News reported that a contractor with Halliburton/KBR – Jamie Leigh Jones – had filed a civil lawsuit against her former employer for covering up a gang rape of her by several other KBR employees in Iraq in July, 2005. Jones (who was only 20 at the time) was allegedly drugged and raped by her coworkers, then confined to a security container without food, water, or medical treatment for a full day before a guard allowed her to call her father. Here is my interview with Ms. Jones.
Exclusive interview with Erin Markes, mother who was arrested when she took her 4-year-old son to the hospital only weighing 10 pounds. Her son suffers from a rare brain disorder. We were the first to get Erin to tell her story on air. Listen.
We covered local, state and national news and politics and brought national figures into the Pensacola market. We took callers and had fun.
I know I’m rusty as a host. Plus, much like in the NewsRadio days, Cumulus doesn’t expect me to do well. I’m head-to-head against Rush Limbaugh on WCOA 1370 AM and Dennis Miller on NewsRadio. They have already told I might only be on the air for a week until they bring in another nationally syndicated show.
I like those odds.
Right now, I’m pulling together guests, working on my intros and setting up the week. Stay tuned.
