Jamie and Gladys Scott made national headlines when the two Mississippi sisters who had been imprisoned for 16 years were released on the condition that the younger sibling donate a kidney to her sister, whose organs are failing. What many may not know is the women moved to Pensacola.
The women joined the Greater Little Rock Baptist Church and became friends with Pastor Lonnie D. Wesley III. As part of a coalition to help the ladies with successful assimilation back into society, Greater Little Rock Baptist Church welcomed the chance to serve the sisters in whatever capacity was needed.
But with convicted felon listed on employment forms, the sisters soon realized how hard it was going to be to start any sort of new life. After being employed in a few short-term labor jobs, Pastor Wesley recommended the sisters contact Michles & Booth because the firm was considering a new employment initiative.
The Scott sisters will share their amazing story today on IN Your Head Radio at 1:30 pm.
The show airs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on WCOA FM 100.7. You can listen online at Wcoapensacola.com or on iheartRadio.
