Inaugural May Family July 4th Picnic A Success (video)

Lumon May hosted a July 4th picnic at Legion Field. Based on the community’s response, May told me that he plans on making it an annual event.

“We started at 11 am and the people kept coming to enjoy the music and food,” said May, who is running for Escambia County Commission, District 3. “If the rain hadn’t started, we may have stayed at the park until the Wahoos’ game started.”

The Obama 1911 United bus attended the event. 1911 United is a joint venture between two African-American college fraternities, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, to encourage supporters of President Barack Obama to volunteer for at least one day, one hour, or even one minute in order to re-elect him. The men are traveling to keep battleground states. They visited Pensacola on their way from Orlando to New Orleans.
