Attorney General Eric Holder asked Ken Feinberg, head of Gulf Coast Claims Facility, to hire an independent auditor to review the claims process. Feinberg agreed, and he told FOX 8 of New Orleans that he fully supports the hire. Feinberg says BP will be paying for the independent auditor. The position hasn’t yet been filled.
When pressed by the reporter on why there have been delays in paying claims, particularly those of commercial fishermen, Feinberg gave his pat answer, which he ahs used since Oct. 2010: “We’ve paid thousands and thousands of fishermen and there may be some that are still in the system, but we’ll clear them out as fast as we can.â€
