Indivisible town hall July 12

Indivisible NWFL is organizing a healthcare town hall to educate and inform people about the Senate’s Better Care Reconciliation Act. There’s a lot of partisan talk about Congress’s work to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act and we are interested in cutting through that partisan talk to help people in this area understand what the bill would mean for the region and for them personally.

Concerns that we have heard from our membership and anecdotally through friends and family members include the impact of changing the growth rate for Medicaid, how deductibles will be affected, and the uncertainty about coverage for pre-existing conditions. After months of citing individual market turmoil as a justification for the Affordable Care Act’s repeal, we fear that Republicans have created a bill that could cause unprecedented problems in those exact same markets.

The audience will be given the opportunity to ask questions they have regarding the BCRA. We hope to get unvarnished and non-partisan information directly from stakeholders and health policy experts.

The event will be held in the J. Earle Bowden Building, 120 Church Street on Wednesday, July 12 from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
