Florida Tribune: According to the Department of Management Services, 519 of the 1,662 state employees have already been placed in different positions. These layoffs represent a 3.7% reduction in total staff for the 14 agencies effected. Interesting fact: Florida has the lowest ratio of state government employees to state population, with just 117 state employees per 10,000 state residents. Florida is followed by Illinios (126), California (132), and Nevada (134), with the national average of state employees per 10,000 state residents at 216. See graphic.
