Inside the numbers: More guns used in City of Pensacola crimes

The Pensacola Police Department crime statistics reveal that the use of firearms while committing a crime was up for the first six months of 2016 when compared to the same period last year-a 14.7 increase.

The number of robberies and aggravated assaults reported that involved either a gun or knife increased by nearly 20 percent.

What allowed the City of Pensacola to report a drop in crime, from 1,368 offenses to 1,282, was 60 fewer larceny from buildings offenses reported, which accounted for 70 percent of the decline in crime.
