NorthEscambia.com is reporting this morning that the county’s insurance carrier has agreed to pay a its flood claim on jail ($25 million). However, the carrier has denied the $45 million “all-peril†claim for the natural gas explosion at Central Booking and Detention Center, which killed two people and injured nearly 200 others.
The county plans to appeal the insurance denial.
April 30 marks the one-year anniversary of the explosion. This week, Inweekly will have a story on lingering after effects of the blast on county employees and prisoners – “Legacy of Trauma.”
