On April 9, 2008, Alex King was released from Brevard Correctional Institution in Cocoa after serving about six years for his confessed role in bludgeoning death his father, Terry King. His brother would released a year later from Lancaster Correctional Institution, west of Gainesville.
Inweekly followed the story of Alex, who was 12 at the time of the murder, and his brother Derek, who was 13 and who admittedly swung the baseball bat that killed their father on Nov. 26, 2001. Their trial received national media attention for being tried for murder as adults.

Mollye Barrows and Kathryn Medico co-authored a book on the case, “A Perversion of Justice,” that was published in May 2004. We interviewed them before it was released and before “Dateline” broadcasted a segment on the King brothers.
We teased Barrows about one sentence in the book that said that instead of slaving away at WEAR, Mollye Barrows could be a “bikini model.”
