Is a retirement village in the future for Hallmark site?

Two days after the daily newspaper published that the mayor’s wife, An Hayward, and former business partner, Matt Pair, had been bought out of a LLC that owned the closed Hallmark Elementary School, a new LLC registered with the state of Florida–Hallmark Village LLC. (HallmarkVillage ).

The LLC was formed on Oct. 9, the day after the Escambia Board of County Commissioners approved a $37,500 grant for a development at the school site. The project is for 120 units for elderly residents at 115 South E St –owner Hallmark Village LLC. See BCCgrants.

The grant application filed with the county in September states that the school and auxiliary building are up for “reconstruction/rehabilitation/demolition” to create a clubhouse and residential units. There will be new construction of one-story bungalows, two-story garden, or townhomes on remainder of the property. See Hallmark_Application

The manager of Hallmark Village LLC is Hallmark Village MM LLC, which was also formed Oct. 9. The manager of Hallmark Village MM LLC is ITEX Partners, LLC – which is owned by THE ITEX Group LLC. ITEX is owned by the Akbar family and based in Texas. See ITEX Partners.

It will be interesting to see how the city planning department deals with this project.
