It’s official, same sex marriages begin at courthouse on Tues.

Escambia County Clerk of Circuit Court to Begin Issuing Same Sex Marriage Licenses on Jan. 6

Pam Childers, Escambia County Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller, announced today that effective Tuesday, January 6, 2015, her office will begin issuing same sex marriage licenses in accordance with the federal court rulings in Brenner v. Scott, 4:14-cv-00107-RH-CAS, and Grimsley v. Scott, 4:14-cv-00138-RH-CAS.

Licenses may be obtained 8:00 am – 4:30 pm at:

Individuals may obtain the license application online at www.escambiaclerk.com.

Florida requires a three-day waiting period if either applicant is a Florida resident. The waiting period can be waived with completion of a pre-marital preparation course by an approved provider. If both applicants are out-of-state residents, then no waiting period is required. More information may be obtained at www.escambiaclerk.com.

At the time of application, individuals must provide all of the following:

-A valid driver’s license, military ID, alien registration card or passport
-Social security number or alien registration number
-The exact date (month, day and year) when their previous marriage(s) ended
-Payment for the license ($93.50 without pre-marital counseling and $61.00 with pre-marital counseling and certificate of completion of the course).
-Ceremonies may be performed by the Clerk for $30.00.

Additional copies of the marriage license are $3.00 each.

Fees are payable by cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, or money order payable to the Escambia County Clerk of Court (there is a 3 ½ % surcharge for credit card payments).

Additionally, the Escambia County Clerk will perform wedding ceremonies for same sex couples.
