At his presser today, Mayor D.C. Reeves discussed the repairs and improvements being made to the Jefferson Street Parking Garage.
- “I’m a believer in paid parking, but I’m also a believer in when you charge a user fee for something that you show the users what they’re getting for their money.”
Surprise: In cleaning up the facility, the city found the original name for the garage.
- Mayor Reeves: “When we were cutting back and cleaning up the parking garage, there was a plate there that said, ‘Park Place Garage.'”
Why this matters: The city is investing over $100,000 in “our largest park parking structure in the heart of where we charge users to park.”
- Mayor Reeves: “If we’re gonna say, ‘Here’s what you get for your money,’ we thought that that would be a good place to begin and make that a more enjoyable experience for folks.”
