Jeffrey Humbles arrest could be bogus

The PNJ reported that Pensacola City Council candidate (Dist. 6) Jeffrey Humbles was arrested and charged with resisting arrest.

Humbles came on IN Your Head Radio to describe what happened. He saw a ECSO deputy checking the tag on his car while it was parked on N. S Street. When Humbles asked what the officer was doing, the deputy asked for the keys to search his car.

Humbles refused. Four other deputies arrived on the scene. One with a drug dog. The dog sniffed around the car and didn’t bark or give any indication of a problem. However, his handler said there was probable cause for the deputies to search his vehicle.

Still Humbles refused to give permission. He was arrested – at first he thought it was for obstruction of justice. The deputies searched his car and found nothing.

They still arrested him. They changed the charges to resisting arrest without violence. Humbles said on the show that he has not taken an alcoholic drink since 1994. He is not a drug user, and he offered to be tested at the station.

Maybe this will stop soon. These type of arrests clog the system and just cost us all money.
