Congressman Richard Nugent Backs David Jolly for U.S. Senate

Press Release: United States Representative David Jolly (R-FL-13) today announced that Congressman Richard Nugent (R-FL-11) has officially backed his candidacy for the U.S. Senate.

“I’ve had the good fortune to get to know and work with David Jolly for a long time now,” said Congressman Nugent. “He is a fierce advocate for the people he represents, and crucially to me, that includes the veterans and active duty service members who call the Tampa Bay area their home. As a father of three soldiers, it’s not the people in Washington who talk about veterans who get my respect, it’s the people who back it up. And it’s why I am proud to stand behind his candidacy for the United States Senate.”
“I am grateful to have the support of my colleague, Congressman Nugent, a true conservative leader who I am privileged to call my friend,” said Congressman Jolly. “Congressman Nugent has served his community and our nation with honor in the National Guard, as Sheriff of Hernando County and now as an exemplary lawmaker in the U.S. House. Rich’s commitment to advancing conservative principles, while being a staunch advocate for our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines sets an example for all lawmakers. I am proud to share Rich’s commitment to service.”
Congressman Richard Nugent joins Congressman Dennis Ross (R-FL-15) in endorsing Congressman Jolly for the U.S. Senate.

Congressman Jolly was elected to represent Florida’s 13th Congressional District during a Special Election in 2014 to finish the term of the late Congressman C.W. Bill Young in the 113th Congress and was subsequently re-elected in November 2014. Before his successful bid to represent Florida’s 13th Congressional District, Congressman Jolly served as a vice president of a Clearwater-based specialty finance firm, as well as chief executive officer of a Clearwater-based professional services company supporting life-cycle philanthropy of non-profits and individuals. Prior to that, Congressman Jolly created and owned multiple businesses, including a communications firm, a law firm and a consulting firm. Congressman Jolly received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. He then studied law in the evenings to earn a Juris Doctorate cum laude from the George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Va. Congressman Jolly was born in Dunedin, Fla., and currently resides in Indian Shores with his wife, Laura.
