Kaiser leaving Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart CEO Will Join Utah Health System

Pensacola, FL (Jan. 13, 2012) — Laura Kaiser, president and CEO of Sacred Heart Health System, will be leaving Sacred Heart to become executive vice president and chief operating officer of Intermountain Healthcare.

Intermountain is a nonprofit health system based in Salt Lake City, Utah, which has 22 hospitals and 185 clinics in Utah and Idaho.

Kaiser will remain in Pensacola as Sacred Heart’s CEO until Feb. 28 to ensure a smooth transition. Leaders of the Sacred Heart Board of Trustees and Ascension Health have started the process of choosing Laura’s successor. Sacred Heart is a member of Ascension Health, the nation’s largest nonprofit Catholic healthcare system.

Kaiser joined Sacred Heart in 2008 as its chief operating officer and became president and CEO more than two years ago. Under her leadership, Sacred Heart has continued its growth while its physicians, nurses and other caregivers have been recognized for providing high-quality care, regardless of patients’ ability to pay. Sacred Heart opened a new Cancer Center in Pensacola and a new hospital in Port St. Joe in 2010. Last year, Sacred Heart was named as recipient of the HealthGrades Distinguished Hospital Award which recognizes hospitals ranked in the top 5 percent nationwide for patient outcomes.
