Kayak for a Cure Pensacola will host its third annual charity paddle event to benefit the American Cancer Society on Saturday, May 3 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Shoreline Park South in Gulf Breeze, FL.

Kayak for a Cureâ„¢ is a national, non-profit, organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds in support of cancer research and prevention.

“We invite water enthusiasts of all ages to join us for a day on the water to support the research and prevention efforts of this amazing organization,” said Danny Goldman, chairman of Kayak for a Cure Pensacola.

Register at kayakforacure.org/events by April 28, 2014 for $40 per-person, or register the day of the event for $45 per-person. All proceeds directly support the American Cancer Society. Check-in and registration begins at 7 a.m. Paddlers will launch at 8 a.m. from Shoreline Park and paddle approximately 3 mi. east to the Gulf Islands National Seashore returning to Shoreline Park for lunch, prizes, a silent auction and team relay races.

Participants are encouraged to bring a kayak, paddle board or canoe to the event. Kayaks rentals will also be available at the event for an additional donation of $10. Professional guides will provide instruction and monitor safety along the route.

“More than 200 individuals attended last year’s event and a total of $10,000 was raised and donated to our local American Cancer Society, and we look forward to an even bigger event this year,” said Morgan Cole, marketing director for Kayak for a Cure Pensacola.

Kayak for a Cure Pensacola will host a kick-off registration event on April 26, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Intracoastal Outfitters located at 701 East Gregory Street across from McGuire’s Irish Pub in Pensacola, FL.

Each summer, paddlers throughout the United States and Canada, climb in to kayaks for two reasons: an excuse to have a great day in the outdoors with some amazing people, and to be part of the solution: fund the research that leads to cures for all types of cancers.
