KPB is back

Last week, the board of Keep Pensacola Beautiful voted to change its name from Our Corner back to Keep Pensacola Beautiful.

KPB CEO Charles Bare wrote Inweekly: “We are grateful for all the time and effort the idgroup and partners such as yourself put into our new brand, but ultimately, we felt Keep Pensacola Beautiful better reflected the mission and goals of our organization.”

Why this matters: The organization began in 1979 as an effort to combat roadside litter. Bare wrote, “The efforts of countless volunteers, staff, community leaders and citizens have led to the organization we have inherited. We remain committed to our core mission to work strategically with community partners to educate and advocate, implementing programs that advance the environmental quality and beauty of our community, today and for future generations.”

Our Corner was developed out of idgroup’s Brand on Us campaign, its annual initiative to help local nonprofits improve their marketing and public awareness. Past winners of the Brand on Us process include The Center (Pensacola Cultural Center), Know Child Abuse (Gulf Coast Kid’s House), Bright Bridge Ministries, Pensacola Sports and Autism Pensacola.

The letter from KPB:

Thank you so much for the role you played in the brand change from Keep Pensacola Beautiful to Our Corner. We appreciate the print ads donated by InWeekly. After several months operating as Our Corner, our board made the decision to revert to the Keep Pensacola Beautiful name.

On Wednesday, May 17th, our Board of Directors voted to change our name back to Keep Pensacola Beautiful. We are grateful for all the time and effort the idgroup and partners such as yourself put into our new brand, but ultimately, we felt Keep Pensacola Beautiful better reflected the mission and goals of our organization.

Our organization has evolved since its inception in 1978. The efforts of countless volunteers, staff, community leaders and citizens have led to the organization we have inherited. We remain committed to our core mission to work strategically with community partners to educate and advocate, implementing programs that advance the environmental quality and beauty of our community, today and for future generations.

We look forward to the coming year, and your support, as we continue to build on the successes in our past and serve Escambia County as we have for the past 44 years. Thanks again.
