Community Action Program Committee, Inc. has promoted LaTasha R. Harris to Head Start Director.
- Who? Harris has worked with CAPC since beginning her career as Family Engagement Coordinator before advancing to Deputy Director in 2024. In her previous role, she focused on promoting children’s school readiness and healthy development, and on enhancing family well-being through strategic operations and organizational development. “

Experience & Education
Harris brings over 15 years of experience in child welfare and early childhood education to the position. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of West Florida and a Master of Science in Management-Health Care Administration from Troy University. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Human Services Administration at Nova Southeastern University, with an anticipated graduation in May 2026.
Beyond her professional work, Harris has a strong commitment to community leadership. She currently serves as President of the Graduate Student Government Association at Nova Southeastern University and sits on the Board of Directors for Girl Scouts of Gateway Council. She also serves as Vice President of West Florida High School’s Parent Teacher Student Association.
Harris is a 2023 graduate of Leadership Pensacola and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. She resides in Pensacola with her three daughters.
Background: Community Action Program Committee, Inc. serves low-income families in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties through Head Start, Early Head Start, and other programs focused on education, housing, and family support services.
