Shortly after noon yesterday, the nephew of NBA star Reggie Evans was discovered dead in the area of Weller Avenue and Bradfield Road off of Gulf Beach Highway in southwest Escambia County. Investigators are working the death of Tyler A. Evans, 25, of Pensacola as a homicide and early indications are that it was not a random act.
Investigators are also looking for a gold 2000 Toyota Tacoma extended cab FL Tag J284AZ in relation to this incident. Anyone having any information concerning this incident or vehicle are urged to contact Crimestoppers at (850) 433-STOP.
Reggie Evans, an NBA power forward with the Sacramento Kings, grew up in Pensacola Village and played for Bennie Washington’s Woodham High. He has spent many of his off-seasons working with youth in this community.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that the investigation is ongoing and no further information would be released at this time.
