The West Florida Literary Federation is hosting a reception tonight in honor of Dr. Henry Langhorne’s new book of poetry, “The Lay of the Land†at 7 p.m. at the Pensacola Cultural Center. There will be a reading and light hors d’oeuvres.
This is Dr. Langhorne’s seventh book of poetry. His poetry is typically on the somber side, speaking about death.
“Some complain that he’s too melancholy,†said his editor and publisher Linda Wasserman. “He is a
cardiologist.â€
Wasserman is a member of the West Florida Literary Federation. She has worked with Dr. Langhorne on his last four books with her publishing company, Pelican Press of Pensacola.
“It’s a super-gratifying experience,†Wasserman said.
Dr. Langhorne is just another reason why Pensacola is a great city for artists and art-lovers. Even your heart doctor could be a poet.
“Like all good writing, his poems lead you to certain emotions and thoughts,†Wasserman said. “It’s a wonderful surprise to have those feelings and thoughts you didn’t expect.â€
Dr. Langhorne’s works and the newest edition of the Emerald Coast Review will be for sale, all proceeds benefit the West Florida Literary Federation.
