Lead by example

When the head of county government has a employee leasing business and a real estate investment company, what is the example that he is setting for all his employees?

It’s okay to have other businesses. In fact, you’re stupid if you don’t. No matter how much you make as a county employee it’s not enough. So look for ways to make a few extra bucks. If you hear of a great new development, set up a limited partnership and buy early. If you see a national company get a huge contract with the county, then figure out how you can set up a company to help their business elsewhere. If you’re approached by friend to buy into a deal with local developers and it’s not in Escambia County, then do it.
As we know from the salary database on inweekly.net, county employees make some of the highest salaries in the county. It’s our tax dollars that gives them the money to invest in projects we can’t afford.

Yet big salaries still aren’t enough…that is if you follow the example of the county administrator.
