It’s okay to have other businesses. In fact, you’re stupid if you don’t. No matter how much you make as a county employee it’s not enough. So look for ways to make a few extra bucks. If you hear of a great new development, set up a limited partnership and buy early. If you see a national company get a huge contract with the county, then figure out how you can set up a company to help their business elsewhere. If you’re approached by friend to buy into a deal with local developers and it’s not in Escambia County, then do it.
