Leadership Pensacola seeks nominations

AUG-25-leap
The Pensacola Chamber Foundation has announced that Jan. 31, through Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, nominations will be accepted for the 50 available slots in next year’s Leadership Pensacola (LeaP) Class. Self-nominations will also be accepted.

LeaP, a program of the Pensacola Chamber Foundation, aims to develop community-minded leaders during its 10-month-long program, which is designed to help participants acquire an understanding of the issues facing the Pensacola area and to gain the leadership skills necessary to resolve them. Candidates sought come from a cross-section of the community – men and women from different political, career, educational, social and cultural backgrounds.

“Leadership Pensacola is our most popular and essential program to ensuring the future leadership of Greater Pensacola,” said Foundation Executive Director Jerry Maygarden, a former State Representative and Pensacola Mayor. “We refine the curriculum annually in order to make sure the content is relevant and will be beneficial to both the participants and to the community they will ultimately serve.”

Participants accepted into LeaP will become involved in retreats, day-long seminars and at least one community project for which the class uses its resources and talents to enhance the Greater Pensacola region. The current class’ project is LeapPlay, a children’s playroom renovation at a local hospital, and last year’s class project was LEAP Trail, a fitness initiative to help make Greater Pensacola a healthier community.
