League elects new state president

Pam-Goodman
The League of Women Voters over the weekend elected a new leader – Pamela Goodman, a former Palm Beach County League President and businesswoman. She succeeds Deirdre Macnab, whose term expired.

Goodman was previously vice president of the state League. She is a former President/CEO of Limited Express, overseeing 850 stores nationwide and $1.5 billion in revenue. She is also president of The Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County.

“The League is a unique and clever organization built on action, established on change. Action and change are all around us and the next two years will bring many challenges. These are the two things that make us the most powerful non-partisan political organization in Florida today. And I plan to steer the course.”

Goodman has also served on the League of Women Voters of the United States Nominating Committee and Membership Recruitment Committee. She has received numerous awards, including the 2008 Susan B. Anthony Award for Outstanding Feminist from the National Organization for Women.

Goodman was elected by delegates to the state League’s 35th Biennial Convention in Delray Beach.

“Deirdre Macnab is a dynamic leader who set a standard for integrity, hard work, dedication and the ability to seize an issue and make good things happen. She leaves big shoes to fill and I trust that I can continue and expand upon that legacy.”

Also elected were: First Vice President Chuck O’Neal of Orange County, Second Vice President Maribel Balbin of Miami/Dade, Secretary Pat Drago of Volusia County, Treasurer Theresa Francis-Thomas of Volusia. Directors elected were Annie Betancourt, Sandra Colyer and Elizabeth Pines, all of Miami Dade, Patti Brigham of Orange County, Cecile M. Scoon of Bay County and Former Senator Paula Dockery of Polk County.
