Escambia County is partnering with other organizations to offer a Florida Master Naturalist Program (FMNP).
Along with the University of Florida-Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences and other groups throughout the state, Escambia County Extension is offering the program to anyone interested in learning more about Florida’s natural environment. The program runs from Feb. 29 to April 25.
The masters naturalist program includes classroom instruction, field trips and practical interpretive experience related to the general ecology, habitats, vegetation types, wildlife and conservation issues of coastal Florida.
Fields trip locales will include the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station, Pensacola Beach, Shoreline Park South, the Dauphin Island Sea Lab an the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies. Classroom sessions will be held at the Gulf Breeze Recreation Center and the J. Earle Bowden Building in downtown Pensacola.
The FMNP cost $225 per person; the fee covers 40 hours of instruction, a workbook and, upon completion, registration in the UF FMNP database as a Coastal System Naturalist.
