Let Cavanaugh go

UWF president John Cavanaugh is interviewing for the chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. He is a finalist of a system with 110,500 students. John has been at UWF for six years.

Why is the daily newspaper making such a big deal of him looking into better jobs?

I don’t want John to leave – UWF is a 100 times better than it was under Morris Marx or any other prior university president. But, of course, this is Pensacola where there is a certain vocal – and bitter minority – that hates anyone to succeed or move ahead.

Let go of it. If John is offered the job, then let him go. We will find a replacement. What’s George Touart doing? ….just kidding.
