The YMCA of Northwest Florida announced this morning that the Levin family has made a $1 million gift to support the construction of its new facility in downtown Pensacola. The gift is a combined donation from Fred Levin and Teri Levin.
“This new YMCA will help create an even more vibrant downtown Pensacola,†Teri Levin said. “So many people will benefit – working adults, local families, youth and seniors will all find something just for them in this new Y. Our family is thrilled to make a meaningful gift that will help this dream become a reality.â€
“Once again, we are humbled by the generosity of families in this community whose gifts are moving us toward our goal,†Board Chair Jon Kagan said. “The Levin family has supported this project since its inception, and now they’ve made a personal commitment to ensure its success.†Kagan further thanked Teri Levin, who, in addition to her financial commitment, has served as a campaign ambassador for the past year. “Through all of her actions, she has truly owned her part of the Y and its future.â€
The Levin family joins the Bear Family Foundation and Quint and Rishy Studer as lead donors to the project.
Project development for the new Y continues to move forward. “This new building will help drive continued downtown revitalization and build on our Y’s 130-year history of serving this community,†said CEO Michael Bodenhausen. The design will be open and modern while still blending into the historic district, he explained, and encompass approximately 52,000 square feet, more than twice the square footage of the current building.
