Linkin Park is a huge win for Deluna Fest

DeLuna Fest announced today that its big headliner will be Linkin Park. According to Wikipedia, the California-based band was formed in 1996 and rose to international fame with their debut album, Hybrid Theory, which was certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2005. Its following studio album, Meteora, continued the band’s success, topping the Billboard 200 album chart in 2003, and was followed by extensive touring and charity work around the world.

In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth greatest band of the music video era and the third best of the new millennium behind Oasis and Coldplay. Billboard ranked Linkin Park #19 on the Best Artists of the Decade chart.

The band is still very active live. Most of their appearances have been aboard this year. They have two August shows – one in Vegas and one show that is coming up August 31 at a secret location in Los Angeles, where they will share the stage with the B’z, Japan’s biggest band. The gig is a fundraiser for their Music for Relief charity, and proceeds will go towards victims of the natural disasters in Japan.

Linkin Park has a huge fan base. Their YouTube videos are mega-hits:

New Divide – over 95 million view

What I’ve Done – over 57 million views

Numb – over 41 million

Waiting for the End – over 25.3 million views

On Facebook, Linkin Park has 33,606,737 fans as of August 15. It is the 12th most popular Facebook page, behind other musicians – Eminem, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, Shakira and Katy Perry. Over the past seven days, the band picked up 325,143 fans.
