The Loblolly Theatre closed its doors in October of 2012 after thirteen seasons presenting original plays in an intimate theatre. In that time 75 original plays were premiered.
â€Friends of Loblollyâ€, feeling the absence of this work, planted the seed – suggesting a revival of a play from 2001 – RAMBLING ROSE and Other Idiosyncrasies of the Garden. The seed germinated and was nourished, and the time for blooming predicted for late May.
RAMBLING ROSE is a play for the spring, set in the garden. The garden is a place for flourishing, a place for speaking and listening, where the characters are floral and remain true to themselves. We are welcomed by the ramblings of ROSE, the delicate expression of LADY ASTER, the caustic edge of BRAMBLE, the charm of BLUEBELLE, the elusiveness of CLOVER, the mystery of PALMETTA, and the brief splash of MORNING GLORY. Any floral characteristics resembling human ones are purely intentional. There is something to be heard; there is something to be said.

The actual plants which grace the garden will be auctioned off to the audience during the play.
