Local GOP to causus

Press Release: – The Escambia County Republican Executive Committee announced today the date and location to select delegates from Escambia County to participate in the Republican Party of Florida’s “Presidency 5” Florida straw poll this September. The delegate selection caucus in Escambia County will take place at Washington High School (in the cafeteria) at 6000 College Parkway on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 7:00 pm (Central time).

Presidency 5 delegates from each of the 67 counties in Florida will have the opportunity to take part in a historic straw poll that has traditionally forecasted the Republican nominee for President. Presidency 5 will be the first major event of the 2012 campaign season and will give presidential candidates the chance to convey their priorities directly to Floridians. Escambia County will be awarded 64 primary delegates and 13 alternates, and anyone interested in being selected should sign up for the county delegation selection caucus at http://www.presidency5.com/apply/ by June 10th and attend the county selection caucus on July 11th. If a prospective delegate has not signed up by June 10th on-line, they will not be considered during the July delegate selection caucus. If selected at the July 11th delegate selection caucus, delegates will pay $175 each and alternates will pay $125 each.

“2012 will be the year the Republicans take back the White House and Presidency 5 will play an integral role in picking the candidate who will replace President Obama,” said Susan Moore, Chairman of Escambia County’s Republican Party. “I urge all Escambia County Republicans to sign up online and attend our county selection caucus where we will determine the delegates who will represent us in the Presidency 5 straw poll. Presidency 5 is a key event that will give voters the chance to hear from strong Republican leaders running for office and pick the Presidential candidate that shares their vision for America.”

“It’s time to restore Conservative values in the White House and repeat Republicans’ election successes last November. Florida is a key battleground state and our voters will play a pivotal role in determining our next President,” said Dave Bitner, Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida. “Presidency 5 is the only event of its kind and I urge all Florida Republicans to sign up for the delegate selection process so your voice can be heard.”

Presidency 5 will take place September 22-24, 2011 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. There will be a complete schedule of events featuring many of the state’s elected Republican officials and a nationally-televised debate broadcast by FOX News Channel.
