Local governments scramble on FRS deduction

Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater may have moved up the state’s payday to June 30 to avoid a new law that mandates state workers, teachers and other public employees pay 3 percent of their salary to cover pension costs. However local government workers may still have part of their June salary subject to the new law.

According to Florida Tribune, Gov. Rick Scott has promised to pay them back next year…if they have a job then. Read more.
