Louisiana sets its own red snapper season, feds only allow 11 days

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council approved a committee recommendation on April 10 to drop the recreational red snapper season to 11 days. Most charter boat captains and commercial fishermen believe the federal management of red snapper has been a disaster. Dates and regulations are changed constantly, sometimes even after seasons have already opened. The state of Louisiana has retaliated by extending the season in its water. Read more.
