The Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary project has been chosen as a finalist for a $50,000 Pepsi Refresh Grant. The project includes installing 3 near-shore snorkeling reef off of Navarre Beach; one in the Gulf of Mexico and 2 in Santa Rosa Sound. These reefs would created economic growth through tourism by providing visitors with a safe, easy-to-access beach-recreation site; sustain or improve water quality through oyster growth; provide habitat for many marine animals; and provide an education resource for area schools, universities, and organizations.
The Pepsi Refresh Grant will fund the Gulf-Side snorkeling reef. Grants are awarded to the ten projects with the most votes in their category. An individual can vote for the cause everyday.
