The PNJ reports that former City Councilman Marty Donovan has formed a political action committee to try and get enough signatures for another referendum on the Community Maritime Park. He is stepping in for Tim Eagan and trying to rescind the vote on the bonds. He has 60 days from the council vote—which I think is December 9—to get the 5,828 signatures.
In 2006, Donovan told the public that he fought against the maritime park because that was what his district overwhelmingly wanted him to do. Instead his district approved the park, 2,006-1,562. In 2008, he was defeated in a run-off by Larry Johnson, 1296-819.
