The Seville Rotary Club recently announced that Matthew Horne has been selected as President for the 2025–26 Rotary year. Since joining the club in 2022, Horne has demonstrated exceptional commitment to Rotary’s mission of service above self, most notably leading the club’s cooking team at the 2023 Pensacola EggFest.
- As incoming president, Matt has outlined clear goals for strengthening the club’s community impact. His priorities include enhancing signature fundraising events—the popular Steak Cook Off and meaningful Flags for Heroes program—while also focusing on engaging emerging local leaders through hands-on service projects and welcoming social gatherings.
“I’m excited to build on our club’s strong foundation of service and work alongside fellow Rotarians to make an even greater difference in our community,” Horne said.
Professional Excellence: As a Transportation Engineer with HDR, Matt brings valuable project management and community development experience to his new role. His work focuses on designing and managing critical infrastructure improvement projects, including roadway enhancements, urban planning initiatives, and comprehensive traffic studies. Matt’s educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (2015) and Master of Science (2017), both earned at Auburn University.
Deep Community Roots: Matt’s commitment to the Pensacola community extends well beyond his professional and Rotary involvement. As a Deacon at First Baptist Church, he has served on multiple committees and ministries, including Building and Grounds, Administrative Council, and the Church to Church Food Ministry. His dedication to civic leadership was further recognized when he completed the prestigious Leadership Pensacola program in 2024.
Family and Personal Life: Matt’s Auburn University connection runs deep—it’s where he met his wife Sarah, and their love story began in true SEC tradition with a tailgate and football game as their first date. The couple, married since 2018, shares their home with two beloved dogs, Sadie and Oliver. When he’s not serving the community, Matt can be found cheering on Auburn athletics and the Atlanta Braves, experimenting in the kitchen, or exploring hiking trails out west with Sarah.

I congratulate Mr. Horne as he accedes into his presidency.
I was a Rotaracter in my 20’s, in the Rotaract Club of the Mobile Bay Area.
I think, having been a Rotaracter, that there should be a greater emphasis on encouraging those eligible by age to join Rotaract.
