Mayor asks ECUA for right of first refusal on Main Street plant site

what
Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward has informed the Pensacola City Council that he has sent a letter to Steve Sorrell, the executive director of the Emerald Coast Utility Authority, requesting that the city be granted a right of first refusal on the utility’s 19 acres across from the Maritime Park. The property once was home to the Main Street Sewage Treatment plant, which was demolished last year.

The city of Pensacola is obligated to ECUA $19.5 million for the relocation and demolition of the old facility.
