Mayor D.C. Reeves appeared on WCOA’s “Real News with Rick Outzen” this morning. He shared the latest on the investigation of the sewage leak in the City’s stormwater system near Bruce Beach.
“We did some onsite, in essence, manhole inspections somewhere along the basin,” Mayor Reeves said. “Something had caused for some concern right in the Clubbs and Government area, and there’s about five or six manholes over there…I believe ECUA went and tested over in the D Street area, which was interesting because it wasn’t in the basin. And so I’m not sure exactly what triggered that or if that was unrelated, who knows.”
He continued, “But nonetheless, last update I’d gotten was just waiting to see what those test results were and if that was consistent. From there, what you do is you continue to isolate. So if those come in positive, then we go further up and further north or further away from the water and then you basically just hone it in from that point and find out – is it a private sewer lateral? is it a cross connection?”
